Save a friend... or kill a friend. The choice is yours and yours alone.

Added in Cata Leap of Faith, aka Life Grip, is a Priest ability that allows the Priest to pull a party member to their location. The intended design of the ability was that the Priest could pull a shitty player out of fire or pull someone who couldn't make it out of the way of a mechanic in time to safety. It is pretty much never used for that, instead it is probably one of the most abused skills in the game giving people an extremely large amount of grief.

The nickname Life Grip comes from the fact that it is a very similar to the Death Grip ability of Death Knights but it is supposed to be used for saving, not killing... thus life instead of death. Maybe the nick names should be reversed based on how Life Grip is actually used...

The Neural Silencer was added in Warlords of Draenor patch 6.0.1.18125 which blocked people from using life grip or other character moving abilities on the person who had this in their bag. Obtained via Blingtron 5000.

Life Grip is sometimes is used to actually help players, but extremely rarely.

Notable abuses include:

  • Supa falling victim to Freezy's wrath during Blackwing Descent trash on the way to Maloriak.[[1]]
  • During Blackrock Foundry progression we quite often had afkers during trash on the way to Flamebender Ka'graz. During this trash there are conveyors going into furnaces and quite often a good strategy was to grip the afk player onto this conveyor and watch them slowly slide to their death in a blaze of glory. Freezythree was the innovator of this.
  • One time Atena LoF'd Heaton through the Nightwell during the Elisande encounter and Heaton rage-kicked all the priests and Dippy(tank) out of the raid, resulting in a wipe.
  • A strategy during Elerethe Renferal aka Spiderbird was to stand right on the edge of the cliff or webbing and wait for an unsuspecting Heaton to run past, grip or Swapblaster him and he may mistakenly move and fall. Atena and Freezythree were the main culprits with surprise appearances from Dunbaron. Heaton eventually caught on and kept paranoid checking who each of the priests were targeting. He eventually out-smarted the priests and started using neural silencers.
  • While working on heroic Odyn in ToV Atena was fond of going about half way up the light bridge and then stepping off to the side and when people would zoom by, LoF'ing them and they'd just shoot off into the nothing. No special target like the usual Heaton, Atena was very indiscriminate with his slaying in this case.
  • Psalm gripped Rennoa into the instant kill whale shark during Mistress Sassz'ine on a normal clear. Rennoa lost her shit because her "Parse" had been ruined and left the raid in a huff.
