Arcanite Reaper
The Arcanite Reaper was pretty much the official weapon of Vanilla. The recipe for the axe dropped from a rare spawn in LBRS but was not exceptionally hard to farm for a group that was dedicated to obtaining it. There were many reasons why the Arcanite Reaper became such a standard. One of the main reason was it was fairly easy to craft (20 Arcanite Bars was kinda a bitch, but the reward was worth it). Also, when abilities were based off of weapon damage and received modifiers for how fast the weapon's speed was, this thing was a monster. With it's 256 top end and 3.80 swing speed... it allowed Warriors to Mortal Strike much harder than most raid weapons up until Ashkandi. It wasn't out of the question to 1 or 2 shot clothies with big crits. Eventually in the 1.8 patch Blizzard normalized attack speed on all weapons of a certain type. So all 2H axes went to 3.6. With this kind of came the death of the Arcanite Reaper but not before it had become an icon.
