Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros
Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros was a 2h legendary mace crafted by combining a Sulfuron Hammer with the Eye of Sulfuras. Sulfuras was one of two legendaries that came from Molten Core. Easily seen from across the battle field with its luminous orange glow, terror would be instilled in your enemies as it was the actual hammer that Ragnaros himself wielded. As legendaries were hot topic items in the early days of WoW, the officers would decide who was worthy of wielding the group effort item. Red was chosen to be given the first Sulfuras. A long list of items was needed to create the base hammer, and with the announcement, Red farmed the required materials with vigor. The only time-gated item was a Sulfuron Ingots from Golemagg, which were not a guaranteed drop. Once all the materials were collected, Red and Drewbie started their journey to Black Rock Depths, wherein sat The Black Anvil, guarded by Lord Incendius, a powerful minion of Ragnaros. With the hammer forged from teamwork and strength, only one more item was needed to infuse the hammer with the destructive power of fire and lava... the Eye of Sulfuras. Alas, grave circumstances would beseech our heroes for Ragnaros would not allow his hammer to fall into the hands of a mere mortal orc. Ever. CSM did not complete a Sulfuras throughout the entirety of Vanilla WoW.

- 20 Dark Iron Bars = 160 ore
- 50 Arcanite Bars = 50 thorium ore/bars + 50 Arcane Crystals
- 25 Essence of Fire
- 10 Blood of the Mountain
- 10 Lava Cores
- 10 Fiery Cores
Legacy
Years later in TBC and beyond members of CSM would return to the Core in smaller groups to pick up things that they had missed out on in Vanilla. It would be in these runs that CSM would finally obtain a Sulfuras. As the ORIGINAL WoW Legendary it is still sought after to this day as a collectors item even though it cannot be Transmog'd to.
In Cataclysm the Firelands raid reintroduced Ragnaros as a raid boss. One of his drops was a hi-res Sulfuras remodel. Ironically Red got the mace on his DK on one of our earliest kills. A nice perk of the new Sulfuras was that it was only epic so it could be transmog'd to.
